Why doesn't the icon show my current status?
The generator downloads data about your status every 10 seconds, so wait 10 seconds then refresh. This is so that this site does not overload the websites it pulls status information from.
There may also be an arbitrary delay due to third party caching. For instance, the Steam status icon is sometimes delayed, it might take a minute or two to reflect your current status.
Why does my icon show a question mark or cross instead of my status?
Sometimes this site can't download information about your status - either because this site is having problems or the website that the status information is being downloaded from is having problems. It's generally a temporary issue - if not, try signing up again above and make sure you copy the embed code correctly from the boxes.
Can I display the icons automatically for my users without them signing up using this page?
Yes, but in order to use a Live Messenger icon the user has to allow their status to be used on the web. Read this page on MSDN for more information.
